Cardholder Authentication for Increased Security

Growth in online commerce has seen an increase in fraud with stolen credit card details used in electronic, card-not-present purchases.

Due to the increased concerns of online consumers, Visa, MasterCard and JCB have introduced new services to reduce online credit card fraud.

Verified by Visa, SecureCode, J/Secure.
Using a three domain (3-D secure) system, Visa, MasterCard and JCB have developed additional authentication for online credit card transactions.

These schemes ask the cardholder to further validate that they are the actual cardholder. They enter a PIN or password that is checked in real-time against the relevant Visa, MasterCard or JCB directories.

Dialect is any card ready.
As 3-D secure is the payment authentication standard adopted by Visa, MasterCard, and JCB, Dialect's gateway is already configured to accommodate multiple directory servers for any card the merchant wishes to accept.

Merchants Benefit.
Merchants reduce the number of chargebacks and other costs associated with fraudulent transactions. By adopting these programs they often have reduced liability.

Consumers Benefit.
Confidence increases in merchants who participate in these schemes. Increased confidence in eCommerce, drives growth in online purchasing.

Features:

Reduces the risk of fraudulent credit transactions
Promotes peace of mind for consumers
Simple installation & configuration

Card Security Code (CSC, CVV, CVV2).
The card security code is a 3 or 4 digit number printed on the front or back of the card in the signature panel. This number is processed as additional cardholder detail to validate the authenticity of the card. Requesting this information of the cardholder confirms that the card is actually in their possession.

Implementing additional cardholder authentication can help reduce chargebacks and, in some countries, merchants implementing these schemes may be eligible for cheaper merchant fees from their bank.
