Dialect wins 2006 iAward for Financial Applications
April 2006

Globally, the Information, Communications & Technology (ICT) industry bodies recognize solutions innovation and quality through a formal awards process. In 2006, the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) have awarded their iAward for Financial Applications to Dialect for the Purchase Card Payments System being created for American Express.

Below is an extract from the awards dinner acceptance speech prepared for Dialect Chief Operating Officer, Francis Cox.  "Ladies and Gentlemen, members of the evaluation committee, thank you.

We’re delighted to have with us tonight, from American Express, Dom Agostino. Your advertising tells us a good partnership program offers 'unforgettable rewarding moments’.

Tonight, we at Dialect enjoy one such unforgettable moment. There are many more rewarding moments in a project such as this. They come from an ability to meet challenge with skill, innovation and application. They reward everyone involved: From our team in Brisbane and the United States, to Dom and his colleagues working with us. We share this award with them.

Achievement goes beyond any single moment like this into the pride we share with American Express in providing something of value. At the core of that pride is a quality essential to success: the ability to consult closely and well. While this is a recognition of a technology solution, at a technology event, effective consultation is essential to the use and spread of the best technology. It cannot exist in isolation. Dialect is very proud of our team’s technical skills and of our consultative qualities. We work with American Express to deploy our skills, innovations, creativity, and resourcefulness.

Valued business outcomes are an essential function of Dialect and our industry. Australia needs to continue to actively promote and utilize such qualities. This hasn’t always been the case for our industry. Modesty only works when it's recognized globally. We must continue to drive our commercial leverage by giving it encouragement and visibility. That’s why this award is important to Dialect and our peers. Congratulations to the AIIA for giving us this important profile. And thank you again for an unforgettable rewarding moment we share tonight with American Express."
